Redesigning a 1995 Pune bakery to sell, customise and guide shoppers online.
Overview
Copper Chocs started in 1995 with handmade chocolates sold in Pune supermarkets, and grew into cakes, pastries, savouries and custom celebration cakes across 15 outlets.
At The Impact Engine, I designed the Shopify store end to end: benchmarking, information architecture, UI for six templates, product-page UX and the art direction of every image.
Challenge
Customers knew and trusted the counters, but the brand had no convincing way to order, customise a cake or find a store online.
Celebration orders are emotional and time-boxed. People drop off at the first doubt: Is it eggless? Can I add a name? Will it arrive tomorrow? Where is the nearest shop?
Approach
Three clear paths. Order a cake, customise one for an occasion, or visit a store. Products come before promotions on the homepage.
Answer every doubt before “Add to cart”. Weight, egg toggle, cake message, postcode check and delivery date sit in one purchase panel, with trust badges right below.
One image language. Warm side light, blush and linen backgrounds and texture close-ups, applied to every product so the store reads as premium.
Outcome
The store launched on Shopify in 2025, with a unified premium image system, a product-first homepage and a store finder covering all 15 outlets.
